Covid 19 Impact on travel to Canada A note from Richard & Michelle Have questions about traveling to Canada related to Covid 19 & the US - Candian border? Great News!!! The U.S. - Candian Border will be open for non-essential and tourist travel as of August 9th, 2021. Travelers must be fully vaccinated and may cross the border 2 weeks after the second shot. Hosts Richard and Michelle are fully vaccinated. For any questions or concerns please feel free to call or email us!
Fully vaccinated US citizens entering Canada PRIOR TO CROSSING THE BORDER: 1. You must have a valid US passport. 2. You must have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of accepted vaccines. 3. You must have received your last dose at least 14 days prior to the day you enter Canada. 4. You must take a COVID-19 test in the US within 72 hours of your planned entry into Canada, and this test must be from the approved list. It appears that virtually all Walgreens offer a free test that is on the approved list, and you get the results back within 24 hours. The test at Walgreens is called ID NOW, and it is the Nucleic acid test (NAATs), which is on the approved list. AN ANTIGEN TEST IS NOT APPROVED. For the list of approved tests visit www.travel.gc.ca. 5. You can schedule your Covid-19 approved test at Walgreens, or at your preferred location if you want to go elsewhere. 6. You must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test that is on the approved list of tests. 7. You must have a quarantine plan, please use our address for your quarantine plan: 1 Handcuff Road, Ignace, Ontario P0T 1T0 Canada 8. You must go to the ArriveCan App or ArriveCan online (https://arrivecan.cbsa-asfc.cloud-nuage.canada.ca/privacy), register, and submit your proof of vaccination. You will need this for crossing the border. 9. You must keep proof of your test results for a 14-day period, beginning on the day you enter Canada. 10. For complete details such as accepted vaccines and any new border changes please click on the following link: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/ AT THE CANADIAN BORDER HAVE THE FOLLOWING READY (wait times MAY be longer than normal): 1. ArriveCan receipt 2. Proof of Vaccination (vaccination card) 3. Pre-entry negative COVID-19 test result 4. WEAR YOUR MASK at the border crossing 5. WEAR YOUR MASK on the float plane 6. Valid US passport 7. Quarantine plan (the address above) 8. *NO BAIT of any kind is allowed in from the US at this time!* 9. We advise having two copies of everything and being ready and organized at the border. RETURNING TO THE US: 1. You WILL NOT be required to quarantine upon re-entry back into the USA. 2. You WILL NOT need to provide a negative COVID-19 test as that is not a requirement for fully vaccinated US citizens returning home. THIS IS ONLY A GUIDELINE. USE THE GOVERNMENT WEBSITE LINKS FOR YOUR TRAVEL/BORDER INFORMATION. FINAL AUTHORITY IS AT THE DISCRETION OF YOUR BORDER OFFICER.
